Wild bergamot (leaves and flowers) tea: Monarda fistulosa, also called bee balm, is traditionally used for respiratory and digestive comfort, to relieve anxiety and modern research suggests it may offer mild antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti‑inflammatory effects, though clinical evidence is still limited. It is a cousin to lemon balm or Melissa officinalis, which is used for many of the same benefits. I personally drink this potent tea after dinner to aid digestion and wind down for the evening, and there's been a noticeable improvement in both my digestive health and my quality of sleep. It is a perennial herb in the mint family recognizable by its square stems, opposite lanceolate leaves with a citrusy scent, and pink‑to‑lavender tubular flowers that bloom from midsummer through early fall. It thrives in dry, open sites such as prairies, meadows, and woodland edges, preferring well‑drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil and full sun to partial shade.
The bergamot contained in this pouch was hand-picked at my family homestead just northwest of Lincoln, Michigan where I grew up. No pesticides of any kind are being used on site where these flowers were harvested. I washed and air dried the leaves and flowers and then used a food dehydrator to finish the drying process. Consult your healthcare provider before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, on prescription medications or experiencing chronic illness.
Suggested Use: Steep 1 tsp of the Bergamot leaves and flowers in hot water for 10 minutes. Add honey and/or lemon to taste and enjoy!
